Minor Repair Suggestions for You to do at Home to Keep Your Christmas Memories Alive
Through the years of handing down heirloom Ceramic Christmas Trees, some dings and breaks can occur. Some are minor and some very major.
When the repairs look minor, you should be able to do them yourself.
We recommend you do things yourself, since shipping is so expensive these days. Also, ceramic Christmas trees are at their most delicate and vulnerable when they are broken.
Here are some suggestions:
Broken pieces: If it appears that it can be glued back into place. Try 527 Bond glue, and attach it to the tree, making sure to seat it completely together. Suggestions if your ceramic piece has chips: 1. Get some air dry clay and press around it, then smooth it out. You can paint it to match if you like with matching acrylic paint. some have used this to repair a branch tip that was destroyed in shipping: 'NARA Air Hardening Clay' 2. An Epoxy Patch3. Soak the chip several times with super glue and behind the chip4. If you don’t have the missing piece, use E6000 glue on it and any visible cracks5. Some put cernit on the piece and bake it. Then painted matching acrylic paint over it. 6. If the broken piece is in an area that does not show when on the base, if you still have the chip just glue it back in with 527 glue, let dry & use the tree. Star Tip Broken: Touch that up with matching acrylic paint. Broken off Christmas light stuck in the tree: That can be tricky, because folks through the years have used so many different types of glue. Our recommendation is to try to carefully dig it out with an Exacto knife. DO NOT USE A DRILL… one slip of the hand and your tree is toast. You can also use a hair dryer to somewhat loosen up the glue. We hope this works out for you and your tree.
